Agave guiengola Cream Custard 3b where it grows in dry

Baker’s notes & crumb story

Description

where it grows in dry rocky fields

We would grow this even if it never flowered

it will self seed if you don't remove all of the old flower stalks

muted yellow spots

This lovely surprise lily comes from the work of USDA breeder Margot Williams

Agave guiengola Cream Custard 3b where it grows in dry(aka: Agave guiengola 'Mediopicta') We originally acquired this century plant in 2007 from Thailand under the invalid name of Agave guiengola 'Mediopicta'. The thick, fleshy, non spiny leaves are creamy white with a wide blue green border. Agave 'Cream Custard' makes an outstanding container plant where it isn't winter hardy, forming a 1' tall x 2' wide specimen in 5 years. Because of the large amount white in the leaves, the growth rate is slow.
